QueSPER Information Literacy Curriculum

Grade Four

Teaching Goal: Help students create individual research projects using models and templates

The student will:

  • Review curricula for K, 1, 2, 3
  • Use QueSPER as a model for creating a personal research/inquiry plan.
  • Develop questioning skills within a field of study
  • Use SMILKA independently.
  • Use encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, almanacs, periodicals, biographies to find information
  • Use a computer to do information searches (computer catalog, web sites, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and atlases).
  • Use several methods for note taking and source citation.. 
  • Focus on strategies for reporting: Sorting, selecting, synthesizing and good writing practices.
  • Develop deeper knowledge of using a computer to create recorded information using templates and word processing systems.
  • Develop deeper knowledge of structure for citation of sources.
  • Develop ability to create self-evaluation and reflection rubrics.
  • Develop connection between self and society especially related to  plagiarism
  • Increase knowledge of personal independence and responsibility in using the library.
  • Develop knowledge of computer as a tool for learning. (parts of computer and network, file management, word processing programs, publishing programs, web site investigation, production activities).
