Punctuation helps the reader understand what the writer means. A period means the writer and written a sentence that contains a full thought. A semicolon is put between equal sentences that are closely related.

Example: The gardeners had planted the red, white and blue tulips carefully; they blossomed in the shape of an American flag.

With the pinky finger of your right hand, press the ; semicolon and release. Practice

Now type a colon :. With the pinky finger of your left hand hold down the shift key. Wth the pinky finger of your right hand press the ; key. Practice.

Space between letters by pressing the space bar with your thumb, between each letter you type.

Keep your eyes on the screen, not the keyboard. Practice until you can do it without looking at the keys:
