Leatherback Turtle

Description: The only sea turtle without a hard shell, the adult leatherback can grow to a length of 2 meters (6 1/2 feet) and weigh nearly one ton (2000 pounds). The leatherback sea turtle is listed as an endangered species.

Range: Leatherbacks can tolerate wide temperature changes. They are found as far north as Maine, Canada and Nova Scotia and nest in eastern South American coastal regions.

Habitat: know as pelagic (living in the waters of the open sea), but also live in coastal waters

Diet:

Reproduction: Nesting areas in Caribbean and southern Florida as well as the eastern coast of South America.
