American Black Bear

Biomes: Taiga, temperate forests, aquatic (swamps)

Habitats: American Black Bears like to live in forest lands including those on mountains. They like a place where there is plenty of fruits and nuts to eat. They can also be found in cedar swamps, scrub forests and even in wet meadows and corn fields if there is cover nearby and plenty to eat. Their dens are simple, shallow depressions in leaf litter.

Range: From northern Alaska across North America to Labrador and Newfoundland, and south into Central Mexico

Status: Endangered in Canada, but stable in the US.
