Where does it live?

What does it eat?

bulletHunt small birds, marsupials and reptiles

What does it looks like?

bulletBony top on head called a "casque"
bulletHead and neck are blue
bulletFeathers are dark and glossy, blue and black
bulletNo feathers on neck and head

How big are cassowary?

bullet3rd largest bird in the world (Ostrich and Emu are larger)
bulletGrows to over 5 feet (2 meters) in height
bulletWeigh approximately 130 pounds 

What are its enemies?

bulletFeral pigs (tame pigs that have been released into the wild)
bulletSome are shot, but this is illegal

How does it protect itself?

bulletKicks with its legs; sharp claws are dangerous
bulletIs shy and solitary (lives alone).

Is it endangered?

                Yes, estimates for 1,300 to 10,000 remaining birds.
