Gravity, Friction and Mass

What is the difference between weight and mass?

Mass is defined by the physical content (number of electrons, protons, molecules, etc...) that an object is composed of. Weight is the attraction force mass and another mass (generally the Earth). A bar of gold would have the same mass anywhere, but it’s weight would be different on Earth than on the Moon or on Mars where gravitational forces are weaker.
