ALPINE or MOUNTAIN TUNDRA

Alpine Tundra is above the tree line. Trees will not grow on mountains above a certain altitude.

The land is frozen below the surface in the tundra. This is called permafrost. In the spring the top of the land defrosts and plants will grow. The land feels squishy and full of water because just a few centimeters below the land is still frozen.

This picture comes from the Andes Mountains in South America.
